Trust in government declines in Germany
The German Civil Service Association (DBB) asked more than 2,000 people about the reputation of public services.
The results showed that the performance of the surveyed government agencies was lower than in 2022.
Only 27 percent of those surveyed believe that the government can fulfill its mandate.
Respondents think the German government has more difficulties on immigration, education, climate and environmental policies.
80 percent of the participants think that there is a general “despicability” in society.
54 percent of public employees are exposed to threats and insults
While 54 percent of public employees who participated in the survey stated that they had been exposed to threats, insults and physical attacks, 26 percent stated that they had witnessed attacks against public employees.
In his speech at the press conference, DMM President Ulrich Silberbach stated that “confidence in the state has diminished and this situation is worrying.”
