NATO Ukraine Statement
A NATO official evaluated the statements by the Director of the Cabinet of the NATO Secretary General, Stian Jenssen, in the Norwegian press that “Ukraine can become a member of NATO in exchange for giving a part of its territory to Russia” to the AA correspondent.
“NATO’s position is clear and unchanged. As NATO leaders reiterated at the Vilnius summit in July, we fully support Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.” The official continued:
“We will continue to support Ukraine no matter how long it takes. We are determined to achieve a just and lasting peace. Ukraine will decide when and under what conditions peace will be achieved.”

JENSSEN’S STATEMENTS
According to news from Norway’s Verdens Gang (VG), NATO Secretary General Jenssen’s chief of staff told a panel in the city of Arendal that Ukraine could become a NATO member in exchange for giving up part of its territory to Russia.
Asked by VG if this interpretation is NATO’s opinion, Jenssen said: “I’m not saying it should be. I say that this may be one of the possible solutions”. he had given the answer.
