Altar: We are committed to the transport of immigrants by boat

British Prime Minister Sunak answered questions from reporters on a show held at a Buckinghamshire hospital.

Prime Minister Sunak said that all tests must be carried out for the safety and health of the refugees, regarding the evacuation of the ship Bibby Stockholm due to the presence of the legionella bacteria, which causes a type of lung disease.

Stating that the ship option is less expensive than hotels, Sunak said: “British taxpayers are shelling out £5-6m a day for hotel accommodation for illegal immigrants across the country.” saying.

Stating that refugees staying in hotels also put pressure on the local population, Sunak said: “We have to find alternatives and the refuge ship is one of them. That’s why we’re committed to it.” he said.

WHAT HAPPENED?

The UK began transfers to the Bibby Stockholm ship on August 7 in line with its decision to move irregular migrants held in hotels to alternative destinations to reduce their impact on the economy.

Britain’s plan to transport 500 male migrants between the ages of 18 and 65 within 18 months on the ship, which brought 39 migrants in the first place, was interrupted by the presence of legionella bacteria on the ship.

Bibby Stockholm, which began welcoming the first immigrants 3 weeks later in the port where it anchored, was evacuated 4 days after the arrival of the refugees.

The Health Ministry announced that the asylum seekers who were transferred back to the hotels had no symptoms of Legionnaires’ disease caused by the bacteria so far. (AA)
