Dengue continues to claim lives

In the statement issued by the Bangladesh Directorate General of Health Services (DHGS), it was reported that 2,905 people were hospitalized in a single day for this disease.

In the statement, which stated that this is “a record in the number of hospitalizations in one day,” it was indicated that 11 more people died from dengue in the last 24 hours.

It has been recorded that 398 people died from dengue fever in Bangladesh this year.

Last year, 281 people died in the country due to dengue.

Dengue

Dengue fever, which is seen in tropical and subtropical regions, is transmitted to humans through mosquitoes. The disease, which usually causes mild fever after the incubation period, can be fatal in some cases.

Cases spike in June, September, December, and March, commonly known as the “rainy seasons.”

Scientists warn that high temperatures and prolonged rains are causing an increase in mosquitoes that transmit malaria and dengue fever.

Since the disease-causing mosquito species breeds larvae in pools of water, potential breeding areas should be sprayed constantly. (AA)
