Armed attack on sanctuary in Iran

According to the news published in Iran’s semi-official Tesnim agency, an armed attack was carried out on the tomb of Shah Cheragh in the city of Shiraz.

Tesnim claimed that two people were killed in the attack, which he called a “terrorist attack.” Iranian state television reported that 7 people were injured in the attack.

It was recorded that the attackers were two people and that the people in question were trying to enter the tomb through the Mahdi Gate. One of the attackers was said to have been captured after the incident and the other fled.

The doors to the tomb were claimed to be locked and security forces continued their efforts to catch the escaped attacker.

THE ATTACK WAS ALSO LAST YEAR

In October last year, an armed attack was also carried out on Shah Çerağ’s grave, and 13 people died as a result of the attack. Two of the perpetrators of this attack were executed on July 8, 2023. (BRITISH AUTOMOBILE CLUB)
