Niger warning from Russia
The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs warned that a possible military intervention to resolve the crisis in Niger could lead to a prolonged conflict in the country and the destabilization of the situation in the entire Sahara-Sahel region.
The events that began in Niger were on the agenda of the international community.
In the written statement made yesterday by the Ministry on the situation in Niger, it was stated that the situation in Niger was closely monitored and that the Economic Community of West African Countries (ECOWAS) is taking steps to restore constitutional order in Niger through policy and diplomatic dialogue with the new Niger authorities. Russia supports ECOWAS mediation efforts to find ways out of the current crisis. At the same time, according to the information received, ECOWAS decided to mobilize its forces prepared for a possible armed intervention in Niger to rescue Mohammed Bazum at the extraordinary summit held in Abuja on August 10. The Niger army has declared that it is ready to resist any foreign intervention. They also noted that a transitional government will be formed that will include representatives of civil society. We believe that a military solution to the crisis in Niger could lead to a prolonged conflict in this African country and the destabilization of the situation in the Sahara-Sahel region as a whole.
ENGLAND: WE WELCOME THE PLEDGE
Following the second ECOWAS summit held in Abuja, the Nigerian capital, on August 10, the UK also issued a statement.
“We welcome ECOWAS’s determination to seek all avenues to reach a peaceful solution. We support democracy in Niger. We support ECOWAS and call for their immediate release, condemning the illegal detention and unacceptable conditions in which President Mohammed Bazum, his family and members of the government are being held.
On the other hand, the High Representative of the European Union (EU) for Foreign Relations and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, shared on his social media account: “The EU is deeply saddened by the deterioration of the detention conditions of President Mohammed Bazum and his family, who, according to the latest information, have been deprived of food, electricity and medical care for several days, reiterate their concern. We ask once again for his immediate and unconditional release. President Bazum has dedicated his life to improving the daily lives of the people of Niger. There can be no justification for such treatment.”
WHAT HAPPENED IN NIGER?

In the statement made after the meeting, the board’s management had 1 week to comply with the demands. He specified that if these demands are not met, the option of the use of force will be considered.
After the deadline given by ECOWAS, a second meeting was held in Abuja on 10 August, indicating that defense ministers of member states have been instructed to prepare and deploy reserve forces to restore constitutional order in Niger. .
