Air conditioning dishonor at luxury wedding: Super rich stranded at 46 degrees
Famous for its luxury rooms for 2,100 euros (63,000 TL) a night on the island of Sicily, Italy, and where the TV series The White Lotus was filmed, the hotel hosted a wedding for the super-rich. However, guests experienced moments of terror instead of the lavishly elaborate entertainment they had come to expect.
When the air conditioning system did not work, many guests fell ill with a temperature of 46 degrees. One of the guests, American businessman Tyler Peters, said the priest who was scheduled to lead the wedding fainted and a relative took his place.
Peters said: “The air conditioners were out of order. A doctor among the guests did not leave the head of the priest in fear that he might have a heart attack, ”he said.
The hotel is among the most luxurious places in Italy.
Chefs working in the kitchen were reported to have passed out as well.
Located in a historic building from the 14th century, the bride and groom together with the rest of the guests survived the wedding without major health problems, but after hours of hard work, the hotel staff made a great effort.
23 cities in Italy are on alert for the record heat in recent days. The fire that broke out at the Catania airport last week made the heat rise even more and many tourists were stranded in the region.
