Lion hunt continues in Berlin: authorities warn
Search efforts by the authorities continue after a report that a lion was seen in the south of Berlin, the capital of Germany.
Search efforts that began Thursday morning continued all day yesterday and continued into the evening. While the search work with helicopters and thermal cameras continues, the authorities warned its citizens who live in the region “not to go out into the streets.”
Images shared on social networks show that the lion is in a wooded area.
Although images of the lion were shared on social media, authorities estimate that the lion was found in the Brandenburg forest area. Kleinmachnow Mayor Michael Gruber said: “We advise citizens not to go out. Do not walk or jog, especially in the forest zone, ”he said.
Hundreds of police officers, as well as licensed hunters and veterinarians, were involved in the search, using two helicopters, drones and infrared cameras. While the main goal of the group is to calm the lion down, it was stated that if he attacks, it is okay for the lion to be killed.
PETA’S RESPONSE
While no zoo or circus in the area has issued a “missing lion” description, it is estimated that the fugitive lion escaped from the home of a person who took the lion as a pet. In recent years, animal rights organizations have called on the German government not to adopt wild animals.
Peter Hoeffken, of the animal rights organization PETA, said: “Over the last 20 years we have seen cases of wild animals fleeing people’s homes. Despite our warnings, this situation has not changed.”
IS THE LION THE FATHER OF THE MAFIA?
On the other hand, Bild, one of Germany’s main media outlets, claimed that the lion belonged to a mafia boss.
The photo of the leader of the Remno mafia organization was shared, in which the lion was adopted.
Bild shared a photo taken in the past of the leader of Remno, one of Germany’s most notorious mafia groups, with a baby lion.
While Ahmed Remno did not make a statement on the subject, it was suggested that the lion was Remno.
