EU sanction decision
According to the European Council statement, a total of 18 people and 5 organizations from Afghanistan, South Sudan, the Central African Republic, Ukraine and Russia will be sanctioned for their role in human rights violations.
Those on the list include the education and justice ministers of the Taliban administration in Afghanistan and the president of the Supreme Court of Afghanistan. These people were listed because they denied the right to education for Afghan girls and women.
SEXUAL VIOLENCE, INTRODUCING FEAR INTO THE COMMUNITY
Some military officers from South Sudan, the Central African Republic and Russia will also be punished for sexual violence and terrorizing the public.
In addition, sanctions were imposed on 12 individuals and 5 organizations from Russia. These individuals and organizations were also listed on the grounds that facial recognition technology was used for arbitrary arrests and that dissidents such as Aleksey Navalny and Vladimir Kara-Mursa were punished for political reasons. The Moscow municipality, some municipal authorities and 3 companies that supply facial recognition systems are added to the list.
With the latest additions, the number of individuals and organizations on whom the EU has imposed restrictive measures under the “global human rights sanctions regime” has risen to 61 and to 20.
The sanctions include asset freezes, a ban on EU citizens and companies from financing those on the list, and a travel ban on individuals.

On the other hand, the European Union (EU) has prohibited the export of parts that can be used in the construction of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) to Iran. (AA)
