India disaster death toll rises

10 people have died in a landslide caused by heavy rain in India’s western state of Maharashtra.

According to the Hindustan Times report, 17 houses were buried last night in a 50-digit village in the Raigad district of the state. Noting that 10 people lost their lives and 75 people were rescued due to the landslide, authorities said efforts to rescue many stranded people are continuing.

In the state, where heavy rains were effective throughout the week, train services and road traffic were disrupted.

The Indian Meteorological Service said on July 16 that the heavy wave of southwest monsoon rain will affect many states. The number of people who lost their lives in the last two weeks in the country due to monsoon rains has exceeded 150. (BRITISH AUTOMOBILE CLUB)
