Rebel leader Wagner will anger Russia again
A new video has been released of Yevgeni Prigozin, the leader of Russia’s Wagner mercenary army, who garnered worldwide attention with his brief uprising against Russian leader Vladimir Putin last month.
Prigozin, who criticized the Russian army, which had long been fighting in Ukraine, accepted the deal brokered by Belarus after the uprising in which Wagner seized military installations in Russia and withdrew his troops. Under the agreement, it was reported that the Prigozin and Wagner fighters would go to Belarus.
‘WHAT IS IN FRONT IS A SHAME’
In the newly released video, Prigozin welcomes Wagner fighters to Belarus.
Wagner’s leader described the battle at the front as “shameful” and said they would no longer be involved in the war in Ukraine, in the video, which has not yet been verified by Reuters. “Welcome to the land of Belarus, friends,” Prigozin said, “We fought with honor. He has achieved a lot for Russia. “What happened at the front is shameful and we are no longer involved,” he said.
Prigozin then ordered the fighters to be nice to the local population and train the Belarusian army, telling them to gather forces “for a new trip to Africa.” “Maybe at some point we will return to the special military operation in Ukraine, but
“When we’re sure we don’t have to be disgraced,” he said.
Dmitry Utkin, one of Wagner’s co-founders, said: “This is not the end. This is the beginning of the biggest work that will be done very soon” and then in English “Welcome to hell!” he used his statements.
