Partial road traffic possible again after the attack on Krimbrug
Road traffic was partially reopened on one lane of the Crimean Bridge late yesterday evening, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Marat Kushnoellin reported on Telegram. “Vehicle traffic on the Crimean Bridge has been restored to the right outside lane,” Choesnoellin said.
The Crimean Bridge, an important link between the Russian mainland and the Crimean peninsula annexed by Russia in 2014, was attacked on Monday with special “surface drones” by Ukraine’s SBU intelligence service in cooperation with the navy, according to Ukrainian media. The Ukrainian Armed Forces deny this.
The wheat deal has officially expired due to lack of support from Russia
The deal allowing the export of Ukrainian grain via the Black Sea expired yesterday at 11pm (Dutch time). Russia, as announced earlier in the day, has not agreed to a fourth extension of the agreements. The agreement was in effect for one year.
It is not yet clear what the situation will be in the near future. The last grain ship to operate under the grain deal left Ukraine on Sunday. Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelensky hopes to continue the Russia-free deal with Turkey and the United Nations, which has been involved in making and implementing the deals. According to Zelenski, UN chief António Guterres pledged to cooperate.
