Italy is roasting! red alert issued
By determining the level of risk in air temperature in four color categories, the Ministry of Health increased the number of cities in the red category, meaning the highest risk, by 1 compared to yesterday, to 17.
The Ministry gave a red alert in 20 cities for tomorrow, due to forecasts that records could be broken in air temperature, and placed 23 cities in a red category for Wednesday, July 19. Thus, the air temperature alarm was maximized in 23 of the 27 main cities in the country.
“CHILD, ELDERLY PATIENT…”
Although the authorities warned that the extreme heat represents a threat not only for the elderly, children, patients and vulnerable groups, but also for all citizens, they advised not to go out between 11:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. hot of the day day, and consume plenty of fluids and fresh fruit.
I WILL SEE 47-48 DEGREES
Temperatures are estimated to rise to 47-48 degrees on the western island of Sardinia, 45-46 degrees on the southern island of Sicily, and 45 degrees in the southeastern region of Puglia this week.
In the capital city of Rome, which the ministry maintains in the red category, the air temperature reached 40 degrees today.
It was seen that in the places where the banks were, large fans were placed to cool the visitors who came to see the historic Colosseum, one of the landmarks of Rome.
While tourists formed long lines to get water, especially from the fountains in the city’s streets and squares, some visitors tried to cool off by washing their faces in the fountains in the city’s historic squares.
It was said that the air temperature in the capital Rome is expected to hit the highest level this year at 43 degrees tomorrow. (AA)
