2023 is about to be the hottest year ever

2023 is about to be the hottest year ever

According to a Berkeley Earth study, the past month has been on record as the warmest June since temperatures began to be measured in 1850. In June, global temperatures rose 1.47 degrees Celsius compared to the average for the 1850- 1900.

June 2023 was the period when the oceans experienced a record temperature rise of 1.12 degrees.
Taking temperatures from January to June into account, the probability of 2023 being the warmest El Niño year on record after June’s record high temperature was calculated at 81 percent.

If 2023 is not the warmest year on record, the probability that it will be one of the first four warmest years is 99 percent.

On the other hand, 2023 was predicted to be the warmest year of all time in the oceans with a 98 percent probability.

Despite the records, the global temperature rise this year is “probably” forecast to be no more than 1.5 degrees over the 1850-1900 period, and El Niño is forecast to raise temperatures more in 2024 than in 2023, due to the reflection of the effect of El Niño on temperatures over time.

The first week of July was announced to be the hottest week on record, after global average temperatures broke daily records for the first time on July 3.

The World Meteorological Organization declared on July 4 that El Niño conditions had begun. Currently, 2016 is the hottest year on record. (AA)
