Temperature record in 38 US cities
In the southwestern United States, the heat wave affected more than 110 million people, with 38 cities expected to break temperature records.
According to the BBC report, temperatures reached 53.9 degrees in California, 47.2 degrees in Las Vegas, 43 degrees in Arizona and 38 degrees in Texas. The National Weather Service (NWS) described the heat wave in the southwestern United States as “one of the most severe weather events in history”. The NWS reported that temperatures will also rise in other southern US states.
Although the authorities indicated that the heat will continue to affect more than 110 million people, 38 cities are expected to break temperature records.
In the states of California and Nevada, some public buildings were opened for those who wanted to protect themselves from the heat, while the homeless requested mobile clinics. The White House called for preparation and to stay safe, conveying that the heat wave in the United States affected millions of people. (AA)
