The crisis in Russia does not end: toxic statements by the dismissed commander

After the uprising of the Wagner mercenary group in Russia, the crisis of the troops and the army fighting in Ukraine is coming more and more to the fore.

Major General Ivan Popov, one of the leading figures in the Russian military, said he was fired from his post in Ukraine because he told senior military officials about the dire situation at the front. Popov, the commander of the 58th Army, which fought in the Zaporozhian region of southern Ukraine, asked questions about the high casualties and lack of artillery support, saying: “It was necessary to remain cowardly or expose the situation openly. I was not afraid and kept silent, I told the truth about the Ukrainian war, ”he said.

According to a voice message shared on Telegram by Russian MP Andrei Gurulyov, a former military commander and state television commentator, Popov said: “I had no right to lie on behalf of my fallen comrades. That’s why I have summarized all the problems that exist.”

‘OUR COMMANDER SHOOTS US IN THE BACK’

The commander accused these commanders of treason and said their dismissal was requested by senior commanders and approved by Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu. “Senior commanders apparently sensed some kind of danger and got rid of me,” Popov said. “The Ukrainian army couldn’t overtake us in the front, but our senior commander shot us in the back,” he said.

According to Russian military bloggers, the request for the dismissal of Major General Popov came from the chief of the Russian General Staff, General Valeri Gerasimov. Gerasimov allegedly accused Popov of “giving unnecessary warnings and blackmailing top management” for a long time.
