Russia had attacked the southern port of Odessa and kyiv with 28 kamikaze-type drones the day before. As NATO leaders met to discuss the summit in Vilnius, the Kremlin criticized the summit, saying that Moscow would take steps to protect its own security.

The General Staff of Ukraine reported that the army maintained control of some positions in the north and south of the city of Bahmut.
