HIGH-LEVEL MEETINGS BETWEEN US AND Türkiye
The intense diplomatic traffic between Turkey and the US continues as part of the NATO Summit in Lithuania.
In this context, the US National Security Adviser, Jake Sullivan, had a telephone conversation with the Senior Adviser to the President, Ambassador Akif Çağatay Kılıç.
In his Twitter post, Sullivan claimed that he spoke with Senior Adviser to the President Ambassador Kılıç and Swedish National Security Adviser Henrik Landerholm for coordination ahead of the NATO Summit to be held in Vilnius.
Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan had a telephone conversation with his US counterpart, Antony Blinken, about NATO enlargement and the Vilnius summit.
THEY SHOWED BY PHONE
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and US President Joe Biden had a telephone conversation yesterday. The meeting discussed Ukraine’s position in NATO, Sweden’s NATO membership, the handover of F-16s and Turkey’s full membership process to the European Union (EU).
During the meeting, President Erdoğan stated that Sweden had taken some steps in the right direction by making changes to anti-terrorism legislation, but supporters of the terrorist organization PKK/PYD/YPG continued to hold demonstrations freely extolling terrorism, which led to the ineffective steps.
Emphasizing that it is not correct to associate Turkey’s F-16 request with Sweden’s membership, Erdoğan thanked US President Biden for his support of Turkey’s F-16 request.
