Claim to increase tension: Germany knew about Wagner’s rebellion

It has been claimed that the German Foreign Intelligence Service (BND) was aware of the uprising against Russia and ruled a week ago on an “uncertain signal” about a possible uprising by the Wagner group against the Kremlin.

It was noted that the BND did not promptly inform Prime Minister Olaf Scholz on this issue, as he contacted intelligence from the allied country and was unable to definitively confirm the information.

In special news on German television channels WDR and NDR, it was claimed that the BND gave its first warning of the events to the German government the night before Wagner’s soldiers occupied Russian military installations and the city of Rostov.

It was also alleged that German intelligence eavesdropped on mediation talks between Wagner’s leader Yevgeny Prigojin and Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko.

In German press reports, the BND has been criticized for reporting late to the government.

WAGNER’S CRISIS

Yevgeniy Prigojin, the founder of the private security company Wagner, accused the Russian military of organizing an attack on Wagner on June 23 and threatened to respond. Wagner’s fighters left Ukraine and entered the Rostov border region.

Faced with this situation, the Federal Security Service (FSB) opened a criminal case on the charge of “armed riots”.

Russian President Vladimir Putin described Wagner’s revolt as “treason”.

Prigokhin announced that they would go to Moscow, and the Kremlin administration had increased security measures in many parts of the country.

Yevgeny Prigojin was reported to have accepted Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko’s proposal to reduce tensions in Russia on June 24.

Prigojin announced that they understood responsibility for the Russian bloodshed and would turn back their convoys and return to the camps according to plan.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitriy Peskov stated that the criminal case against Prigojin would be closed, stating that the “rebel leader” would go to Belarus. (AA)
