Protests banned in France

Protests banned in France

In France, two demonstrations planned by the young black man Adama Traore, whose death in 2016 in a gendarmerie vehicle sparked reactions across the country, have stalled on the ban decision.

More than a thousand demonstrators, including deputies, affirmed that the decision was not legal and concentrated in the Place de la République in Paris, despite the police barrier.

Assa Traore, the older sister of the deceased young black man, said in statements to the press: “No one can stop us from defending our freedom, no one from defending our country. Our country is our country. We defend the democracy and freedom of our country. If we accept this ban on demonstrations, they will ban all other demonstrations in defense of human rights.” saying.

Stating that they have the right to live, Traore said: “All of our dead had the right to live, just like everyone else here. We are not animals and we will never be their victims.” he used the phrases.

“WE BEGAN TO LIKE THE UNITED STATES”

Originally from the US and resident in France for 30 years, the protester Isabel Encinias said in statements to the AA correspondent that France should be a country of “liberty, equality and fraternity” but that there is no trace of that.

“I think everybody looks at us and says: ‘What’s going on (in France)?’ he asks. We are starting to look like the United States.” he said.

Pointing out that he left the United States because of injustice and police violence, Encinias said he faced the same problem in France and was afraid. Encinias said: “Violence is answered with violence. This is a very dangerous thing.” saying.

Towards the end of the demonstration, the police beat some of the protesters for not dispersing, and also intervened members of the press who wanted to take pictures in the area.

On the other hand, after the murder of 17-year-old Nael M., by police bullets on June 27, demonstrations are being held in cities such as Dijon and Saint-Nazaire, with the call of 90 organizations, including political parties.

SHOWS ORGANIZED FOR TRAORE ARE PROHIBITED

Demonstrations are held annually in memory of Traore and against police brutality.

The Val-d’Oise Governorate, on the other hand, banned the demonstration planned for today in Persan and Beaumont-sur-Oise, citing recent violence.

The Government assured that the presence of the mother of Nael M, who was murdered by the police, was also expected so that there would be people cheering for the demonstration.

After the older sister of the black youth, Assa Traore, called for the demonstration to be held in Paris, the Paris Police Department announced that this demonstration was also prohibited on the grounds that the call was made too late in the morning and there has been violence in the cities around the capital recently.

ADAMA TRAORE LOSES LIFE IN VEHICLE

Traore died on July 19, 2016, in the gendarmerie vehicle where he was taken to be transferred to the police station after tension during the identity check.

In the first statements made after the incident, it is assured that Adama Traore fell ill and was handed over to the first aid team. It was revealed that Traore died in the gendarmerie vehicle before the doctor intervened. (AA)
