In the statement issued by the Peruvian Institute of Geology, Mining and Metallurgy (Ingemmet), it was noted that the eruption of the Ubinas volcano occurred at 03:13 local time and that an “emergency” must be declared in the Moquegua region.

The statement indicated that the Ubinas volcano spewed lava and ash 5,500 meters into the sky, and indicated that the ash was moving towards the towns of Querapi, Ubinas, Sacohaya, Anascpa, San Miguel, Tonohaya, Huatahua, Huarina. , Escacha and Matalaque.

Prime Minister Alberto Otarola, in his statement on the eruption of the volcano, emphasized that an emergency will be declared to take the necessary measures and said: “We believe that we can protect people’s health with preventive measures. We take responsibility for these events and always coordinate properly with all agencies to combat this.” he used the phrases.
