Biden reiterates his support for Sweden’s entry into NATO
Ahead of the NATO Summit in Vilnius next week, US President Biden received Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson, whose alliance membership is on the agenda, at the White House.
Calling Sweden a “capable partner,” Biden said they are working to further develop relations. Recalling the NATO Summit to be held next week, Biden stressed that the United States fully supports Sweden’s NATO membership.

Assessing that Sweden will strengthen the NATO alliance, Biden noted that they hope Sweden will become a NATO member. Biden claimed that they acted alongside Sweden on issues such as the climate crisis, protecting a free and open Indo-Pacific and supporting Ukraine.
Kristersson thanked Biden for his support of his country’s NATO membership and said they thought his country could contribute to the alliance.
Noting that Sweden and the US share many common values, Kristersson also mentioned his support for Ukraine and thanked Biden for his contribution to the transatlantic union.
HIGH-LEVEL MEETING IN BRUSSELS
Ahead of the summit to be held in Vilnius on July 11-12, a high-level meeting will be held in Brussels tomorrow, with the participation of the foreign ministers of Turkey, Sweden and Finland, on Sweden’s membership in NATO.
On June 14, the fourth meeting of the Permanent Joint Mechanism, which was established in accordance with the tripartite agreement between Turkey, Finland and Sweden at the NATO Summit held in Madrid in June 2022, was held in Ankara. (BRITISH AUTOMOBILE CLUB )
