Terrifying explosion at restaurant in Tokyo
Four people were injured in an explosion at a restaurant in Tokyo, Japan.
According to the NHK State Television news, an explosion occurred at the restaurant on the second floor of the building in the Shimbashi district for an undetermined reason. In the images included in the news, the smoke coming out of the restaurant and the pieces of glass scattered along the road are striking.
Firefighters and police forces from the Tokyo Metropolitan Governorate were dispatched to the area where the explosion occurred. The crime scene has been secured.
The fire on the second floor of the 8-storey building was extinguished in a short time. According to the Tokyo Fire Department, 2 restaurant employees and 2 pedestrians passing by the building were injured in the explosion.
The restaurant manager told NHK that the explosion occurred in the smoking area. “The moment I turned on the lighter in the smoking room of the store, there was an explosion,” the manager said.
Police forces are investigating the source of the natural gas leak that allegedly caused the explosion at the restaurant. (AA)
