Eyewitnesses claimed that the HDK had attacked the headquarters south of Khartoum from two sides and the army repelled the hours-long attack.
Eyewitnesses stated that the army expanded the conflict zone in the Kuz, Rumeyla and Cebra districts in the south of the capital, where the HDK was stationed, and stated that the HDK suffered heavy losses of soldiers and equipment during the clashes in around the Navy. Headquarters of the Units, and that many of its members were captured by the army.
Rapid Support Forces announced that 14 wounded soldiers have been handed over to the International Committee of the Red Cross.
AIRSPACE CLOSED UNTIL JULY 10
The Sudan Civil Aviation Authority announced that the decision to close the airspace, except for humanitarian aid and evacuation flights, has been extended until July 10.
Sudanese airspace was closed to regular air traffic after the civil war between the army and HDK in mid-April. (AA)
