The UK government’s reaction to the court’s refugee decision
In a statement on his Twitter account, Sunak criticized the court’s decision and pointed to the guarantees given by the Rwandan government.
“I respect your decision, but I fundamentally disagree with your conclusion,” Sunak said, adding that Rwanda gave guarantees not to deport irregular migrants to third countries. “I firmly believe that they have given the necessary guarantees.” he shared his opinion.

Emphasizing that Chief Justice Ian Burnett thinks like him, Sunak said: “Rwanda is a safe country. The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees also has a plan for Libyan refugees in Rwanda. We will seek permission to appeal this decision in the Supreme Court.” saying.
Sunak added that he will do whatever it takes to make the “Rwanda Plan” a reality.

On the other hand, the Minister of the Interior, Suella Braverman, criticized the decision of the court, saying: “We need to fight against the work system of human traffickers. That’s why we did this cooperation with Rwanda.” he said.
“According to the decision of the Court of Appeal, there is no problem in sending irregular immigrants to safe third countries,” Braverman said. As disappointed as you are by his decision, I will also be looking into ways to appeal this decision. THE ECHR HAS STOPPED THE FIRST FLIGHT FROM RWANDA
As part of the ‘Rwanda Plan’ prepared last year, the UK announced its aim to send irregular migrants and asylum seekers to Rwanda.
The decision, to which the opposition in the country, human rights organizations and many international organizations, especially the United Nations, reacted, was declared in accordance with the law by the Supreme Court and the Supreme Court.
The first flight with 7 people to Rwanda was stopped by decision of the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR). The Interior Ministry then opened a new case in the Supreme Court, which decided on December 19 that the flight to Rwanda was legal.
Although the court kept the appeal process open, Interior Minister Braverman said in March that the planes would take off for Rwanda in the summer.
As a result of the request of the human rights defenders who took the decision to the Court of Appeal, the Court of Appeal ruled that the “Rwanda Plan” was illegal. (AA)
