Putin hailed as a rock star: did he use stunts?

Russian President Vladimir Putin, who had a hard time after Wagner, a mercenary group in Russia, defied the Moscow administration for a short time last week, met with people in Dagestan.

The images of Putin, who attended an event with such a large crowd for the first time since the coronavirus epidemic, took selfies with the participants and kissed some of them, created surprise. Putin, who went to the city of Derbent in the Dagestan region of southern Russia and met people here, posed with girls.

Putin’s movements, surrounded by many people, almost like a Hollywood star, drew the attention of some experts… Some experts claimed that Putin used stunts in Dagestan.

The fact that Putin interacted with people in a much more candid way brought about a new discussion.

Speaking to British media, a veteran Moscow diplomat said: “It is impossible to think that there is only one Putin. There are many Putins and they really do look alike. But some behave differently. Putin, who went public in Dagestan, behaves very differently from traditional Putin.”

Viktor Alksnis, a former officer in the ex-Soviet pro-Western army, asked: “What happened to Putin, who was previously distant from everyone, suddenly walking into the crowd and hugging and kissing some of his compatriots?” “Something is not right here,” Alksnis said. We are witnessing a Putin play here,” he said.
