Biden’s Eid al-Adha message
US President Joe Biden congratulated Muslims on Eid-al-Adha.
Biden posted a lengthy Eid message for Muslims living both in the US and in different parts of the world. Biden, who conveyed his best wishes along with his wife Jill Biden to all who celebrated Eid al-Adha, said that this holiday Hz. Noting that it commemorated the loyalty of Ibrahim and his family to Allah, and reminded the importance of the personal sacrifice and philanthropy.
Biden said Muslim community leaders will gather to celebrate Eid al-Adha at the White House for the first time this year, hosted by Vice President Kamala Harris and her wife, saying they are proud to host millions of Muslims who they enrich the cultural fabric of the USA and contribute to society.
Noting the contributions Muslim Americans have made to the country in different fields, Biden said, “Your presence strengthens our commitment to diversity, inclusion and religious freedom.” she made the assessment of him. Biden, in his message emphasizing compassion, empathy and mutual respect, also referred to the pilgrimage made during Eid al-Adha.
Stating that many Muslims from all over the world are performing Hajj in Saudi Arabia this Eid, Biden drew attention to the fact that Muslims from different parts of the world, who gather for Hajj, wear the white Ihram and are somewhat equal.
“This idea is what our nation is built on; similar to the idea that we are all created equal and have the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Biden continued:
“May the spirit of Eid-al-Adha bring joy, peace and unity to your hearts and homes. We look forward to welcoming our American Muslim pilgrims who have earned the title of ‘Haji’ to our country. We wish them and Muslims around the world a happy and peaceful Eid. I hope you have some happy holidays!”
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken also congratulated the Muslim world on Eid al-Adha and conveyed his best wishes to Muslims performing Hajj. (AA)
