Fire in Canada, smoke in Europe

Fire in Canada, smoke in Europe

Puffs of smoke formed in the fire that started in Canada, as it reached Spain and Portugal, appeared in the form of white mist over the city of Vigo in the Galicia region of Spain. Copernicus officials expect the smoke to spread to the UK, Ireland and other Western European countries as well.

Satellite images of the smoke were also shared from the Copernicus social media account. In the June 26 image there is a thin layer of fog over Portugal and western Spain.

In addition, it was reported that the smoke that reaches Europe will not affect the air quality on land, since it is located high above the ground.

The forest fires that began with the warming of the climate in Canada were recorded as “the largest fires in the history of the country.” The fires that have raged since early May are claimed to have caused 160 megatons of carbon emissions so far. (AA)
