Mitsotakis, the winner of the elections, became prime minister again

In Greece, the leader of the New Democracy Party, Kiryakos Mitsotakis, has been sworn in as Prime Minister.

Mitsotakis, who was sworn in in the presence of President Katerina Sakelaropulu, became prime minister again after a month-long hiatus.

Mitsotakis’ wife, children and siblings, including former Foreign Minister Dora Bakoyannis, attended the swearing-in ceremony held at the Presidency. Mitsotakis, who became Prime Minister after the ceremony, took over the job from interim government Prime Minister Yannis Sarmas.

The new cabinet is expected to be announced at 5:00 p.m.

In yesterday’s general election, the Mitsotakis-led New Democracy Party received 40.55 percent of the vote, according to unofficial results, and was entitled to send 158 deputies to the 300-seat parliament. (AA)
