In the country’s general elections held on May 21, current Prime Minister Miçotakis’ party, New Democracy, won 146 seats in parliament. Under the country’s electoral system, a single party must have 151 seats to form a government. The New Democracy Party, which obtained 40.79 percent of the votes in the previous elections, aspires to form a government reaching 151 seats in this election.

There are 300 seats in the Greek parliament.

MİÇOTAKIS SAYS “NO” TO THE COALITION

The Greek media wrote that after the May 21 elections, Prime Minister Mitsotakis had two options.

Rather than form a government with a coalition, Mitsotakis preferred to hold a second election.

There are 9 million 813 thousand 595 registered voters in the elections. The number of voters who voted in the previous election was announced at 6 million 50 thousand 504.
