Obama’s shocking statement on Muslims

In an interview with CNN, Obama said the issue of US presidents meeting with foreign leaders on human rights is “complicated” and that economic and security interests are also considered in the relations.

“WORTH MENTIONING”

In Biden’s meeting with Modi, Obama stressed that the protection of the Muslim minority in predominantly Hindu India is a “noteworthy” issue.

“If I had met with Prime Minister Modi, part of my argument would have been: ‘If you don’t protect the rights of ethnic minorities in India, there is a strong possibility that India will start to divide at some point.’ Obama said this would go against the interests of not only Muslims in India but also Hindus.

Obama said he thinks it’s important to be able to speak honestly about these issues.

“I think it’s important for the US president to say that if there are Uyghurs in concentration camps and ‘re-educated’ in China, that’s a problem,” the former US president used the phrase.

REACTIONS TO MODI’S VISIT

Some US Democratic lawmakers, including Muslims, announced they would boycott Modi’s speech in Congress today “due to his country’s human rights record.”

Members of the Muslim community in the US are also reacting to Modi’s visit, arguing that the human rights of Muslims are being violated in India.

The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) had requested US Congress leaders to cancel Indian Prime Minister Modi’s speech, otherwise they would call for a boycott. (AA)
