A first for the US population.
New statistics released by the Census Bureau have revealed that the median age of Americans is over 38, up from 30 in 1980.
Data covering the period through July 2022 showed that the US population is getting older and Americans are having fewer children.
HIGHER STATES
According to the data, the states with the highest average age were Maine (44.8) and New Hampshire (43.3), while the lowest states were Utah (31.9) and Texas (35.5) with the rates highest fertility in the country.
The nation’s Asian population increased 2.4 percent, Hispanics 1.7 percent, blacks 0.9 percent, and whites 0.1 percent in 2021-2022. The Native American population also increased by 1.3 percent.
In the US, where the population is aging, birth rates fell rapidly with the Covid-19 epidemic, while the number of immigrants, which was effective in population growth, decreased during the epidemic period. (AA)
