Trump’s Interesting Exit: Giving the Death Penalty
Former US President Donald Trump has said that those convicted of drug trafficking should be sentenced to death.
In an interview with Fox News, Trump claimed that stricter practices, including the death penalty, should be introduced to reduce crime rates in the country. After the host of the program Bret Baier referred to the convicted drug trafficker Alice Johnson, who was released by Trump in 2018, and recalled that she would be among those sentenced to death, Donald Trump said that if such a sentence were in force, Johnson would avoid committing a crime.
Trump said the only way to stop drugs is to impose the death penalty on those who traffic them.
Alice Johnson, who was jailed in 1996 on drug trafficking and money laundering charges, was released in 2018 under Trump’s special amnesty. (AA)
