High temperatures claim the lives of dozens in India

After the deaths in Uttar Pradesh, health officials warned of heat. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) announced that temperatures in the Ballia region rose to 42.2 degrees, exceeding the seasonal norms.

Doctors said that those over 60 should not go out due to the heat in which 34 people died in the last 2 days in the state.

It was claimed that those who lost their lives were in their 60s and that the heat may have increased existing illnesses.

In India, where the months of April, May and June are generally hot, much more severe effects have been observed in recent years due to temperatures.

Heat waves often cause water shortages and affect millions of people.

In the city of Navi Mumbai, in the western Indian state of Maharashtra, 13 people who attended a ceremony in April died of heat stroke.

On the other hand, record temperatures are also seen in countries in the region, such as India, Bangladesh, Thailand, the Philippines, Vietnam and Laos. (AA)
