Storm hits the US: there are dead and injured
Three people died and dozens were injured in the storm that was registered yesterday in the town of the Panhandle of Texas, United States.
Texas Governor Greg Abbott announced that he had declared a “state of emergency” in the state due to the storms.
The National Weather Service (NWS) reported that the storm hit the city yesterday around 5 pm local time. The Perryton Fire Department said in a statement that three people were killed in the storm.
Local officials noted that there are still 2 people missing due to the storm. Between 50 and 100 people were reported to have been treated at Ochiltree District Hospital, with 10 people in critical condition.
The Ochiltree County Sheriff’s Department announced that a curfew will be declared until 6 a.m. due to security concerns caused by the power outage.
Poweroutage.us reported that more than 106,000 people in the southern US states of Mississippi, Alabama, Florida and Georgia were without power due to severe storms. (AA)
