TRUMP DENIES COMMITMENT
Trump’s attorney, Christopher Kise, last summer offered Trump a compromise with the Justice Department over the investigation of classified documents, the Washington Post cites three sources.
Kise told Trump that despite his promise to return all documents in his possession, the Justice Department could reach an agreement to drop the investigation and thus “lower the tension” between the parties, but Trump took into consideration the Kise’s suggestion with the advice of his other lawyers to take a “more belligerent stance” towards the investigation he refused to take.
It was noted that Kise brought the reconciliation proposal to Trump several more times, but after Trump did not change his decision, he abandoned the reconciliation attempt with the Ministry of Justice.
Kise, a former Florida attorney general, was paid $3 million to join Trump’s team last year.
CONFIDENTIAL DOCUMENTS INVESTIGATION EVENT
Trump’s home in Florida was raided as part of the “confidential documents” investigation on the morning of August 8, 2022, and some 15 boxes of documents from inside were seized.
Trump described the raid and the ongoing investigations against it as “political” and specifically requested that the documents taken from Mar-a-Lago be reviewed by an “independent arbitrator or special judge.”
The Justice Department then named former Attorney General Jack Smith as the authorized special expert to preside over the investigations into the “confidential documents” and the “January 6 congressional raid.”
In the 49-page indictment prepared as a result of the investigation, Trump was accused of carrying classified documents with him while leaving his White House post and obstructing federal investigations.

Trump also appeared before a judge in federal court in Miami as part of the lawsuit filed against him over “confidential documents” on June 13, denying allegations that he was hiding confidential state documents.
President Biden and the White House team announced that they would not comment on an ongoing lawsuit regarding the charges against Trump.
