Biparjoy alarm in two countries: 150 thousand people fled

The number of people evacuated due to the Biparjoy storm, which is expected to affect India and Pakistan, has exceeded 150,000.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department announced that the storm is moving towards the south of the country, including the port city of Karachi, and will bring strong winds and heavy rains from today.

The Regional Disaster Management Administration (PDMA) announced that 81,925 people have been evacuated from Pakistan’s Badin, Thatta, Sujaval and Malir regions so far due to the storm, which is expected to hit coastal areas of Pakistan and India. .

Ground and naval personnel were deployed to coastal areas to support evacuation and relief efforts. Aid and health camps for evacuees were established in Badin, Thatta, Sujaval and Malir.

The authorities advised fishermen not to go out to sea until the danger of the storm has passed (June 17).

Pakistan’s Meteorological Department has warned that storm Biparjoy, which is expected to reach 140 kilometers per hour, will move north until Thursday morning and then head north-east.

While it was announced that the storm will pass between Keti Bandar and the Gujarat coast of India today, and heavy rain and thunder could continue until tomorrow, authorities stated that current developments regarding the storm will be shared.

Evacuations continue in INDIA

The government of the country’s Gujarat state has announced that more than 74,000 people from eight coastal areas have been evacuated to safety.

State Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel met senior officials last night and made the necessary recommendations to mitigate the possible effects of the storm. (AA)
