Reaction to Prime Minister who suggested drinking sewage in Fukushima
During the party meeting, Lee reacted to Premier Han’s assessment of sewage in Fukushima, according to the South Korea-based Yonhap news agency.
Lee accused Prime Minister Han of pretending to be “Japan’s spokesman”, stating that he would drink the properly purified radioactive water.
Stating that South Korea should oppose Japan’s sewage discharge plan, Lee said he wondered why Japan wanted to discharge the water, which it claims is drinkable, into the ocean.
South Korean Prime Minister Han answered questions at the South Korean National Assembly on June 12 about radioactive water at the nuclear power plant, which has made the Seoul government the focus of criticism, it reported. the South China Morning Post (SCMP).
Han offered to drink the water after it was treated, to address concerns about radioactive wastewater that accumulated at the power plant in Fukushima, Japan, which suffered a nuclear accident in 2011.
After pressure from opposition councilors to publicly drink the radioactive water, Khan said he could drink the water if it was purified according to World Health Organization (WHO) drinking water standards. (AA)
