Panic Over Floods… Good News About Ukraine’s Demolished Dam
Aleksandr Prokudin, head of the military administration of the Kherson region, reported that the rise in water level in the Kherson region was reduced by 20 centimeters as a result of the impact of the Kahovka dam.
In a video statement made on his social media account, Prokudin assessed the latest situation in the flood-hit Kherson region. Stating that there is a downward trend in the water level, Prokudin said: “We see that the water drops 20 centimeters overnight. As of the morning, the water level in the region is 5.38 meters. It is located at the level of 5.35 meters in the city of Kherson”.
Prokudin said that in 32 settlements in the region, 3,624 houses were submerged and 2,352 people and nearly 550 animals were evacuated.
In the statement made on the social media account of the Corporation of Hydroelectric Plants of Ukraine (Ukrgidroenergo), it was stated that the water level in the Kahovka dam continues to decrease. The water level of the dam near the city of Nikolpol was 11.74 meters at 08:00 in the morning. Since the morning of June 6, the water has dropped 15 feet. (AA)
