Trump announced the bad news: he gave the date and time
Former US President Donald Trump made remarks on his social media platform…
Trump said he will have a hearing Tuesday at 3 pm “I have been subpoenaed to appear in Federal Court in Miami at 3 pm Tuesday,” he wrote to his complaining fans. Trump, who was accused of concealing classified documents, also claimed that he was innocent.
The seven charges against the former president include attempt to obstruct justice, willful possession of classified documents and false statements. Trump will reportedly testify before authorities about the charges on Tuesday.
Trump is the first former president in US history to face federal charges. The Justice Department filed federal charges against former President Donald J. Trump on Thursday, with many on the matter emphasizing the legal and political importance of the move.
A FIRST IN UNITED STATES HISTORY
The allegations come after a lengthy investigation into how the classified documents Trump took with him when he left office were obtained and whether this hampered government efforts to recover the documents.
The indictment in Federal District Court in Miami is the first in US history in which a former president has been charged with federal crimes. This has put the country in a state of emergency, given the position of Trump, who in addition to having served as president only once, is the leading name for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination.
White House officials had previously said the Justice Department’s actions went unnoticed, and a senior Beryaz House administration official said they learned of the indictment from the news.
Jack Smith, appointed special counsel, has vowed to deliver an impeachment verdict “quickly” before the 2024 election campaign gains momentum.
