Knife attack on children in park in France
France was rocked today by a knife attack in the city of Annecy.
According to the French press news, a person attacked the children near the park with a knife at around 09:45 in the morning in Annecy. According to preliminary information, 9 people, including 8 children, were injured in the incident.
While police detained the suspect in the attack, three of the injured were reported to be in serious condition. The Haute-Savoie Governorate in the region where the attack occurred called to stay away from the scene.
The captured 30-year-old Syrian attacker is reported to have been given asylum in Sweden some time ago.
One of the witnesses to the incident, French footballer Anthony Le Tallec, said that while he was jogging, many people suddenly started running around the park, shouting.

French Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne and Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin are expected to visit the region. In a statement on his Twitter account, Darmanin said many people, including children, were injured in the stabbing attack in the city of Annecy.
Darmanin noted that the suspect in the attack was detained with the swift intervention of the police.
President Emmanuel Macron also called the attack “cowardly” on Twitter, noting that especially children were the victims of the attack. Using the phrase “The nation is in shock” regarding the attack, Macron offered his condolences to the families of the victims. (AGENCIES)
