President Erdoğan discusses EU membership with EU Council President Michel

According to the statement from the Communications Directorate, the President of the European Council, Michel, called President Erdoğan by phone and congratulated him on his re-election as President.

During the meeting, where regional issues were also evaluated, President Erdoğan stated that in line with Turkey’s full accession to the EU, which has great strategic value for Europe, it is necessary to increase contacts at all levels with a specific agenda and positive.

Stressing the importance of cooperation in the fields of upgrading the Customs Union, ensuring visa liberalization, managing immigration and combating terrorism, Erdoğan said supporting the prospect of full membership and fair treatment for Turkey will open up new horizons in the relationships. (AA)
