Russia: Ukrainian saboteurs blow up an ammonia pipeline
In a statement by the Russian Defense Ministry, it was indicated that the pipeline passing near the Masyutovka settlement in the Kharkov region was detonated on June 5 at 9:00 p.m. Moscow time.
“Ukrainian sabotage and reconnaissance group blew up the Tolyatti-Odessa ammonia pipeline near the Kharkov region. As a result of this terrorist act, there are grievances among the civilian population. Medical assistance was provided to these people.” In the statement that ammonia residues flowed from the damaged parts of the pipeline by Ukraine, it was stated that Russian soldiers were not injured in the incident.
‘REPAIR MAY TAKE 3 MONTHS’
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mariya Zakharova stated that if access to the damaged area of the blown up pipeline is provided, then repair can take 1-3 months. Noting that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy’s statement that he can solve the problem does not mean that the ammonia shipments will continue, Zakharova said: “We will make efforts to clarify the circumstances of the incident.”
Zakharova argued that Ukraine is the only party that is not interested in reworking the pipeline.
The Grain Corridor Agreement signed in Istanbul on July 22, 2022 also included the opening of the Tolyatti-Odessa ammonia pipeline from Russia, passing through the Ukraine and down to the Black Sea. However, Russia stated that Ukraine does not allow the use of this line and wants the pipeline restored as per the deal. (AA)
