Finland decides to expel Russian diplomats
In a written statement from the Finnish government, it was stated that Finnish President Sauli Niinistö and the Council of Ministers met to discuss current developments.
In the statement, which indicated that the Russia-Ukraine war and the current security situation in Europe were discussed, the following was noted:
“The President and the Committee of Ministers for Foreign and Security Policy also discussed the Russian invasion of Ukraine and the current security situation in Europe. The President and the Council of Ministers condemn the collapse of the Kahovka dam as a humanitarian and environmental disaster. The dam burst means that the war in Ukraine is unfolding in a new way, causing widespread damage to the civilian population and the environment. It was also agreed to deport nine intelligence personnel working at the Finnish Embassy in Moscow. Their actions violate the ‘Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations’. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will inform the Russian Ambassador on the matter.”
