A first in the Russia-Ukraine war: Russian soldiers captured Russian soldiers
With Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the war continues in the region.
In the video shared yesterday on the Telegram social media platform, a remarkable detail caught the eye. The Russian Volunteer Detachment (RVC), a group of pro-Ukrainian Russian soldiers in the region, announced that it had neutralized and captured Russian soldiers fighting on behalf of Moscow.
In the shared footage, armed Russian soldiers are seen posing alongside pro-Russian soldiers. The group, which showed its loyalty to kyiv, announced that it had captured Russian soldiers in the operation in the Belgorod region.
“These Russian men were dragged into the war against their will,” the statement said. “Soon they will realize the injustice and disgrace that Putin has created,” he said.
OPERATE CROSS-BORDER
Evaluating the statements and pictures made, the experts stated that for the first time, Russian soldiers were captured on Russian soil and became prisoners of war. While it was not disclosed how many Russian soldiers were captured in the statement, it was claimed that these people would be handed over to the Ukrainian authorities and these Russian soldiers would then be used in a prisoner exchange.
Pro-Ukrainian groups RVC and the Free Russian Legion have carried out cross-border operations in recent weeks, capturing large numbers of Russian soldiers.
