Forbidden writing: harmful to students
The Bible, the holy book of Christianity, has been banned from a Utah school district, USA, after it was found to be harmful to young readers.
Officials in Davis County, a district of 72,000 students north of Salt Lake City, have removed the religious book from elementary and middle schools, but will keep it in high schools.
NO DETAILS GIVEN
After a parent’s complaint, a community committee reviewed the Bible, and district officials said the committee was made up of parents, teachers and administrators.
The committee posted its Bible decision on an online database of review requests and did not elaborate on its rationale or which passages it found excessively violent or vulgar.
Due to the area’s privacy policy, it is unknown who filed the request to ban the Bible from Davis schools or if they were affiliated with a larger group.
