French pension protest alarm: ‘Left extremists from abroad will join in’

France acted on intelligence information that foreigners from abroad will participate in massive strikes and protests that will take place tomorrow throughout the country against the reform that extends the retirement age by 2 years.

Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin, in a statement on his Twitter account, stated that the intelligence service expects the participation of ultra-leftists from abroad in tomorrow’s demonstrations. Noting that they implemented 17 administrative bans to prevent these people from participating in the procession of protesters and to facilitate their arrest when necessary, Darmanin said that 11,000 police and gendarmerie were deployed throughout the country, 4,000 of them in the capital, Paris. , to ensure safety.

More than a million people are expected to attend demonstrations and strikes.

Massive demonstrations broke out in France on March 16, following the government’s decision to approve the bill, which includes raising the retirement age from 62 to 64, without a vote. The police responded harshly to the protesters and violent incidents broke out in many parts of the country.

More than 1,000 people have been detained in protests across the country since March 16. The Constitutional Council, to which the opposition and the government turned to to determine if the reform complied with the constitution, approved the article of the bill that raised the retirement age to 64 years, and rejected all 6 articles in whole or in part .

Despite massive protests and intense opposition in France, a bill to repeal the law, which passed without a vote in Parliament, will also be debated in the National Assembly on June 8. (AA)
