The whole country turned to the set of The Mummy

Sandstorm nightmare in Egypt: the country is back on the set of the movie The Mummy

The sandstorm brought life to a standstill in Egypt, rendering people unable to leave their homes.

The sandstorm, which killed at least 4 people and injured many others, also largely halted traffic on the Suez Canal, one of the world’s most important trade routes.

Ship crossings in the region have been suspended for security reasons and some ports have been closed.

A giant orange cloud has formed over the capital city of Cairo, and many people have shared images that don’t look like movies on social media. Authorities warned the public not to leave their homes as much as possible and to wear masks.

Egypt’s Ministry of Development declared a state of emergency due to the storm on Thursday. According to weather forecasts, strong winds and sandstorms are expected to lose their effect today.
