Ukrainian President Zelenskiy answered questions from journalists at the press conference held after the European Political Community Summit held at the historic Mimi Castle in Moldova, 20 kilometers from the border with Ukraine.
President Zelenskiy stated that “Ukraine should do everything possible to take a step forward in its rapprochement with NATO and receive this signal from the member states of the alliance.”
Assessing that Russia might not have attacked if Ukraine were in NATO, Zelenskiy said: “This shows that NATO is the best security guarantee.” saying.
Zelenskiy thanked his Western partners for the decision to supply Ukraine with F-16s, but reminded that the planes will be delivered after a certain period of time.
Emphasizing that they need modern fighter jets, Zelenskiy said: “We have to live until we get the planes. We certainly will, but for that we need protection. We need more Patriots until we have a plane.” he said.

Touching on the issue of the Transnistria region, which is located in Moldova and unilaterally declared its independence, Zelenskiy said that within the scope of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), 5+2 representatives from Transnistria, Moldova, Russia, Ukraine, the US and the OSCE and the European Union, claimed that the format was “lifeless”.
Zelensky said: “It will be necessary to talk about the position of a strong state, a victorious state that has recaptured its territory. We have a common attitude with this country in terms of the unity of Moldova.” he said.
