Erdogan’s comment draws attention from British media

The Daily Telegraph, one of Britain’s most respected newspapers, used the headline “Europe took a deep breath when Erdogan was in power.”

In James Crisp News, “They may not accept this, but many leaders on the continent feel more comfortable when Turkey stays away from the EU. None of them accepts this claim, but European leaders will take a deep breath when Erdogan is re-elected.

The British newspaper commented on the election results with the words “Europe took a deep breath.”

In the analysis, “the defeated candidate Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu had promised to bring Turkey closer to the West if he was elected. But very few of the prime ministers and presidents who have lived in the Erdogan era for 20 years would be happy about it. Noting that Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban congratulated him without waiting for the official results, the newspaper said: “Orban, who sees Erdogan as an ally and a role model, has many dislikes in Brussels. Other leaders were relatively slow.”

Recalling that Erdogan created riots in NATO, the British newspaper also wrote that Turkey’s military operation in Syria created tensions in European capitals and in Washington. It was also claimed that the European Union gave Turkey a very significant amount of money for Syrian refugees.

“Loving Erdogan may be impossible. But it became very useful.
